La Retreat is the realisation of a lifetime's ambition for its owner, Kim Spice, and her partner, Martin Towell. The property was purchased in 2002 and, together, they spent the next five years lovingly restoring and renovating the ancient stone barn which was to become La Retreat. Its former lifeless shell has been transformed into comfortable modern living accommodation and treatment rooms offering a special welcome and the kind of hospitality and attention to detail that visitors expect and deserve.

A small, family-run business, La Retreat offers the perfect get-away in which to relax and unwind - and it is Kim's main aim to ensure that EVERY visitor leaves feeling completely recharged, invigorated and ready, once again, to face the world.

Kim started her working life as a hairdresser, but some years later, aged 26 and living in Australia, trained as a beauty therapist. She returned to the UK in 1991, having spent 8 years 'down under'. The next few years were spent following her profession, working from home. In 2002 Kim trained as an aromatherapist and also began training in the art of Reiki. Following successful completion of Reiki 1 and 2, she became a Reiki Master in 2003.

In addition, Kim has become recognised as a reader of Tarot cards and her interest in, and study of, psychic development is ongoing.

Kim has always worked closely with people and has developed a special empathy, born out of the 'ups and downs' that she has encountered in her own life. A divorce, the loss of two children and helping the closest members of her family deal with serious illness have all helped to make her a 'people person'. She truly feels that her whole life has been leading her towards opening La Retreat and that, like her, once you experience its special 'feel', you won't want to leave!
